Many would concur with this internet-sourced response:

A "home" is a place where an individual or a group of people reside, typically dedicating

a significant portion of their daily lives. It transcends mere physical structure;

it embodies a space that imparts a sense of shelter, security, comfort, and belonging.

A home frequently serves as a personal and emotional sanctuary, where individuals

can unwind, express their identities, and forge enduring memories with loved ones.

It can assume diverse forms, encompassing houses, apartments, condominiums, or

even temporary shelters, contingent upon individual circumstances and cultural norms.

Ultimately, home denotes a locale where people encounter a sense of belonging and

establish a profound facet of their lives.

Others might assert that home is where the heart resides...

So, if neither response is incorrect, then where does home exist when you've never truly had one?

No place to declare, "Yes, this is where I grew up," because your existence was a perpetual

journey from one impermanent place to another.

Indeed, you could argue that the town you spent the most time in, or in my case, when I

simply regarded that entire state as home. I wasn’t born in the state, so to some,

it wasn't home because I'm not considered a native. Yet, the state I was born in hasn't been a

hospitable home either. I believed I was erecting a new place to christen as home, but I had to

part ways with it.

So, where is home?

If what I found familiar has become an impediment – devoid of security, comfort, belonging,

or sanctuary – and the place of my nativity mirrors the same environment, with living conditions

deteriorating further, then where is home?

Where can I construct a legacy for my family? Where can I establish a thriving business,

contributing as an asset to a community that cherishes my presence? Or am I not deserving of

appreciation? Am I unworthy of sharing progressive ideas to better a community?

I adhere to the same values as the most honorable individuals:

- Treat others as you wish to be treated.

- Provide a haven of safety.

- Contribute to the community.

- Respect civil rights.

- Exhibit courtesy.

- Cultivate knowledge.

- Be resourceful.

- Extend aid to those in need.

- Uphold integrity, ethics, and moral rectitude.

- Possess an unblemished record.

I undeniably stand alone, entrusted with bearing life's burdens, endeavoring to make something of

myself, serve as a role model for others, and establish a home.

Yet, my efforts yield no home.
